Holywell through fire
In December 2023, during a spell of extremely cold weather, Holywell was devastated to hear of news that one of our classrooms had caught fire. It was in the early hours of a December morning that I received a telephone call to inform me that the school was alight. The school community was amazingly supportive and moved across to a temporary school before Christmas and our Holywell spirit shone through. In January 2024, our friends at Roundswell Community Primary Academy offered us space at their beautiful and very different school and we spent a year with our now trust colleagues learning together.
Through the year, we started with setting up our classrooms and learning routines at RCPA, with our youngest children starting school in a modern building and some catching a bus to school every day at 3 years old. The resilience of our children shone throughout and the community spirit was limitless. As time went on, the classroom was rebuilt with modern building requirements to compliment our 200 year old building. We share some photographs of the work that has been undertaken.
Some of our highlights of the year will never be forgotten. We held cross country events, author visits and shared a World Book Day with our RCPA friends. Moving back to Holywell in January 2025 was a moment as Headteacher that I will never forget. I remain always grateful to our PTA, the local community, our amazing pupils and trust colleagues for their support throughout and goes to show what can be achieved when people work together in harmony to make something special happen.
